Annual Appeal

Dear Friends and Fellow Adamsians,

I am delighted to say that despite the swirl of events around us, life at Adams House is slowly returning to normal after COVID. This is all the more remarkable given the extended move out of Westmorly and the old dining hall, which now sit forlornly with their boarded windows barely muffling the clank and bang of men and machinery within. (Heaven help late sleepers across the way!)

The Foundation is ensconced in new, and somewhat spartan digs in the old Inn, which functions as dining hall, residence hall and meeting space. The Roosevelt Scholars Program, directed at our first-generation students, graduated another cohort this summer with magnificent success. Our Fireside Chats have resumed, albeit around a temporary hearth in the Seamus Haney Suite within the recently reopened Randolph. And speaking of the latter, this week we will be publishing a special new issue of the Gold Coaster, featuring the remarkable restoration of Randolph Hall—which came out far better than many of us expected. (Also, watch for a very large surprise reveal of our newest Adamsian!)

And finally, we are pleased to announce a partnership with the European Union that will provide an opportunity to create meaningful programming around the importance of the transatlantic alliance, the impacts of climate change & green technologies, as well as critical issues such as human rights and world health. These programs will be jointly sponsored by the House & the Foundation, and will be potentially located within the House. Available slots, from simple attendance at events, to extended research opportunities, will open first to Adams House residents. This is all in an effort to preserve our past traditions and create future ones, reinventing as we go the reasons that make Adams House such a special place.

Of course, none of this comes without cost, and all of these efforts must be self-funding. For that, we need your continued support. Please give as generously as you can, using the quick online link HERE, or mail a check to the address below. We thank you most heartily.

From all of us here at Adams and the Foundation, we wish you the merriest of merries, and a peaceful and health-filled new year.
